David Gilmour

To play like David Gilmour, feel and a greater control of dynamics is required. David plays with a blues style with lower distortion levels than the majority of other guitar legends. A Fender Stratocaster with vintage low noise pick ups or sometimes Dimarzio FS-1 Vintage can help you on your way to getting a gilmour sound. Try adding some delay and light hall reverb on a low distortion setting with low bass and high mids/treble. One thing should be noted when watching Gilmour play and that’s his use of vibrato on his string bends. Sometimes he uses fast vibrato using his fingers and other times he may use slow vibrato using the tremolo but one thing is for sure, he varies the vibrato with great control which to me has to be Gilmours greatest playing attribute!
